PRIZES INCREASED
CHAMPIONSHIP EIGHTS
. The' Wellington Regatta Club has decided to increase the prize money awarded in connection with the Interprovincial Eights. The first prize has been increased from £25 to £30, and £10 has been allocated as a" second prize. If the championship fixture proves a financial success the Eegatta Club will consider contributing towards the expenses of visiting crews. Satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for the running of a special train, from which spectators will be able to follow the race from start to finish. A contest between eight-oar crews representing the North and. South Islands will be rowed after the' Interprovincial Eights. Mr. R. G. Duncan has been nominated as selector for-the North Island crew, and Mr. M. A. Turner as selector of the South Island crew. Each of the provincial associations has been asked to nominate four men for the Inter-Island Eights. Entries for the Interprovineial and; Inter-Island Eights tSose at AVellington on March 19.
