ROADS AND FOOTPATHS
.;"(To vthß Editor.)' Sir,—Whilst 'driving in .the suburbs I was agreeably surprised ; to see how the City Council is improving the r-.f-.ds and footpaths, also that quite a" sum of monty has and is being spent in'outlying districts where there is little, if-any, vehicular or pedestrian , traffic. Now, Sir, it has taken the ■ residents^ of Maida Vale Road, Boseneath, about twenty years to induce the authorities to form a footpath for at least half the length of the road, and now we have it, we can*t use it, on account of its rough state.; We have endeavoured for the past two years to have this short strip tar-sealed or improved so that the women folk can walk on it without • ruining their shoes. You can imagine our surprise and pleasure when, about three months ago, the spraying plant arrived about 2.30 and left two hours later after having sprayed the road for 100 yards or so. What hve want is the footpath sprayed, and this would not take anj longer than one hour to do. : I fail to understand the attitude of the council, as the cost of completing this would be' trifling. I, trust that one of the engineers, will inspect this locality and place this worki oh ,the, urgent list before the winter montha-are here. —I am, etc.,--- ■ . •' • <r'v--' '■-■! .--. •.; • : RESIDENT.
