'Sport and General" Photo. MISS ETHEL BELLAMY, one of the world's famous astronomers, who received the honorary degree, of M.A. from Oxford University on January 31.

"Evening Post" Photo, BACK INTO SERVICE.— The Parera undergoing painting and survey on the Patent Slip, Evans Bay, before being recommissioned for the coastal service. The Parera has been laid up at Wellington during the past two years.

NEW LINER FOR THE AUSTRALIAN PASSENGER SERVICE.— An artist's drawing of the new Orient liner now under construction at Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, for the Australia-England passenger service. The picture indicates how one funnel and one mast, a distinct departure from the conventional, still allow the new vessel to retain its beauty of line. The size will be considerably greater than the present 20,000-ton Orient liners.
