STOP PRESS NEWS A WHITEWASH DISPLAY. •' " Christchurch.—The recent visit of an evangelist to Christchurch had a sequel In the Magistrate's Court when seven youths pleaded guilty to charges of writing on city pavements contrary to the bylaws. All were ■ fined 10s each. The police said that the youths painted notices on the paths and roadways and' even on buildings, with whitewash, directing attention to.the evan-' gelist's meetings. They did not stop when warned, but continued in the suburbs, even putting notices on a brewery and on unoccupied houses. One notice was twentysix yards long and three yards wide. The evangelist concerned stated that the notices were painted without his consent.
