JUSTICES OF THE PEACE

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 12. The Justices of the Peace Federation conference was continued yesterday afternoon. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. A. Rosser (Auckland); vice-presidents, Mr. J. W. Dove (Otago); registrar and treasurer, Mr. A .J. Stratford (Auckland). It was decided to hold the next conference at Dunedin. The appointment of women police was urged in a remit carried by, 14 votes to 10.

GYMKHANA AT WILFORD SCHOOL,

A gymkhana and sports day was held in the Wilford School grounds on Saturday afternoon, in "aid of the St. Augustine's Sundy School extension fund. There was a satisfactory attendance, and the day was enjoyed by all. There were competitions and side-shows, and a sports programme, for which good, entries were re; ceived. In the tug-of-war the Eakanui team won the men's competition, and the Moera girls gymnastic team the women's competition. The judges for the baby show were Mesdames R. C. Kirk and Bennett,' and they had a difficult task because of the many fine babies entered. The winners were:—Under 6 months, Babies Eait and McDonald; over 6 months, Babies Robertson, Williamson, and Morell;' 18 months, Baby Campbell.
