• LEVY ON INCOMES FOREIGN CORPORATIONS WASHINGTON, January 27. Tho House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee has recommenclod authorising the Secretary* Of- the Treasury to raise by a maximum.of 50 per cent, levies on the incomes of foreign corporations With branches in this country whose Governments discrimin ate in taxing United States subjects. Representative Vinson said that the impost was intended principally! to deter France. The committee also recommended cutting by half the 100 per cent, credit American concerns have heretofore been allowod against income-tax payments on home account for taxes paid to foreign Governments.
