TENNIS CARDIGAN

This1 attractive tennis cardigan which: may be buttoned high iip to the neck or worn open, features a very conrfovtablo push:up raglan sleeve. ■ The' cardigan illustrated is knitted in white, wool, and] is trinimecl with lemon bone buttons and finished at neck, basque, and sleeves with lemon and white striped bands. Materials: 6oz of white and loz of lemon 3-ply, wool, one pair No. 10 and one pair No. 9 knitting needles, eight oblong lemon bone buttons.. Measurements: To fit a 32 to 34-inch bust. ' ''..." " The Back.—Using No, 10 needles and white wool, cast, op ?6 stitches,- Proceed to work In garter stitch for 20 rows, always slipping the first stitch of every row. . ■:. . : \ Break off white wool and join In lemon wool, proceed to work In garter stitch for 20 rows,] always slipping the nrst stitch In every row. Repeat the last 40 rows four times, then work 20 rows in garter stitch, with white wool. Cast off. . ' .... Using a No. 10 needle, and commencing' at the cast off end, pick up all the slipped stitches along the edge of work where wool was joined, 110 stitches In all. * Using No.- 9 needles, proceed to work In garter stitch with white* wool, for 114. rows. Now shape for Raglan shoulders. Cast off six stitches at the beginning 'of the next two rows, and knit 2 together at each end or the needle in the next and every alternate row, until 38 stitches remain. Cast off ..loosely.* * ■ * . ■ Right Fronts—Using No. 10 needles and white wool, cast on 20 stitches; always slip the first stitch; In every row- .Work 6 rows garter stitch. 7th row: K. 5, turn and work 6 rows garter stitch. Now knit right across, joining both buttonholes. Work 8 rows garter. stitch. Join In lemon wool and work 20 rows In garter stitch. Join In white wool : and work 20 rows In garter stitch. Bepeat the-last 40 rows once, then work 20 rows in garter stitch with lemon wool. Cast off.. Using a No. 10 needle, and commencing atcast off -end, pick up all the slipped stitches' along the side -of work, where1 wool Is joined, 83 stitches Iff all. Using white wool, and No. 9 needles, proceed to work as follows: •Ist row: 12 moss stitch, k. 51. 2nd row: K. 51, 12 moss stitch. Bepeat these 2 rows 13" times, always, slipping the flrst stitch on
