Savoury Apple Charlotte. —Butter a round glass cooking dish and coat thickly with breadcrumbs. Peel and slice some cooking . apples aud put a thin layer in the dish. Season with a little salt and add a sprinkling of sugar, then put in a layer of grated cheese and season, with celery salt. Put a "layer of breadcrumbs on top with a ,few small knobs Of butter.' Repeat the' layers till the dish ia full. Moisten with about five dessertspoonfuls of milk. Put the lid on' the dish and bake in a moderate oven for about forty minutes until the apples, are done. Turn out on to.; a dish, sprinkle the tciji with grated,cheese and finely chopped parsley, and servo hot. • ■
'. A Cherry Trifle. —Cook lib of cherries with of sugar in a- pint of .water. When tender, take out and allow to cool. Then take a sponge cake, cut in slices, place ,in a glass dish to set. Prepare a pint of lemon jelly. Place, the cherries pn top of tl\jj sponge, then pour over it the lemon jelly. When cold, pour.over it a piijt; rof. custard or whipped; cream. This;:looks very pretty if a shaped^ mould is.used and the custard ,or.cieam; is-poured; ov,er. < .
