ADVANCED PRICES HOLD

A large and attractive catalogue of sheepskins and hides was submitted to the usual attendance of buyers at the fortnightly sale held by Wellington, woolbrokers yesterday.. Keen competition was experienced, and sheepskins were very firm at the advanced prices registered at the last sale, fine woolled lots showing a tendency to harden in price. ' Salted pelts and short wools were in good ■ request at slightly better prices. Hides were keenly competed for by both tanners and exporting buyers at a general advance of l-8d to %d per pound. Kip and yearlings were barely up to the. level of the last salo except; in the heavyweights. Calfskins were unchanged. Tallow was firm at late rate?, average supplies, being auctioned. The range of prices was as follows:— Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, ll%d to 12% d per lb; fine crossbred, 10% dto 12' Ad; medium, 734 d to lOd; coarse, 6V2d to 9d; half-wools, 5%d to 7d; quarter-wools, iVsd to 5%d; pelts, iYid to ll%d.
