NEW FIRE STATION

RAISING OF THE LOAN

CLYDE QUAY SCHOOL SITE

Some difficulty is being experienced by the Wellington Fire Board in finding loan money offering at the rate of interest 'prescribed by legislation' for the purchase of the Clyde' Quay School site for the new central fire station, at a cost of £25;000. The matter is at present the subject of negotiations between the board and the Government Loans Board. .

It was thought that 19.33 probably would be the last year the present site would'be'occupied by'the Clyde Quay School, but the negotiations over finance for the new fire station have prolonged the. life of the old building. In response to an inquiry.by a "Post" reporter today, the Director of Education (Mr. Lambourne) stated that the school would reopen on the same date as the other primary schools in the Wellington district, early in February.
