FOR FINER WOOLS

. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ! . CHEISTCHUBCH, T,his Day. ' Half bred fleece wool rose by from 2d to 3d per lb at the second Christchurch wool sale" today, compared with tho rates at the first sale in December. Values for flue wools were about on a par with those ,at tho Wellington sale, which is, recognised as tho best sale, to date this season. . Orbssbreds, and particularly, the coarser types, were comparatively difficult to, sell, and valued for them wore about the, same as at the first'Christchurch sale. '. /Better prices for halfbrecls represent an advance of rfrom 10 to 15 per cent, on December rates. In viow of the much larger proportion of fine wools in the catalogue, the average price per lb, judged on the representative Offering over, the first four hours of the sale, is estimated to bo 16d, compared with tho actual average of 13.6 dat the December sale, an increase of 2.4 d per ,Ib, and an improvement of about &2 3s per bale of 3151b. The average price per'bale at the first sale was £18 4s lOd. Today ■it worked out at about £20 Bs. .The estimate of 16d per lb for today's sale is only .16d per Jb less than ■tho .Dominion'average for the 1928-29 season. Account must be taken, : however,,of the fact that the best wools of tho Canterbury season were among today's offering, and comprised a large proportion of ■ it.
