NAVY LEAGUE GREETING

The Wellington branch of th.c Navy League, in 1 all its different committees, accorded a particularly pleasant informal welcome to Captain Taprell Dorling in,the Mayor's room, .Town Hall, half an hour befoio the meeting in the Concert Chamber. Tho flowers from the city gardens decorating the room, were particularly fine, vases of graceful sweet peas and gypsophila, and a group of the now-tinted hydrangeas being very effective.

JTho Mayor was present and warmly greeted tho guest of honour and others who accompanied him. Among these wore Colonel and Mrs. N. S^ Falla, tho latter' wearing a charming gown of maizo ninon and a long evening cloak of bronze velvet;; Mrs. 'A. L.- Jackson (.Auckland), wino - coloured lace and satin; Mr. and Mrs. James Firidlay, the latter in black Chantilly lace. Others included Mrs. Wilkes (mother of Squad-ron-Leader Wilkes), Mrs. Lambourne, Mrs. Dorling, Mrs. Lance Moore, Mrs. P. Marshall, Miss Lulu Dyer, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Baldwin, Mrs. Middlcton, Miss Edwin, Mrs. Horton, Mr. and Mrs. Mack, Miss ,Willcocks, Mrs. Larnach, Mrs. Howard Reid,' Mr. W. Perry, Dr. and Miss Morice, Miss Mona Brftm (hon. secretary of the girls' committee), Miss Rubenstoin, Captain A. L. Jackson, R.N., Squadron-Leaders Stedman and Wilkes, Flight-Lieut. A. W. Nisbct, Mr. Coombe (Palmerston North), Captain Hartman, Mr. Wright, Miss Scott, Miss Cramond, Miss B. Mcnard, Miss Paul, Miss Taylor. ■

Captain Dorling personally met all the guests, who wero introduced by Colonol Falla. A pleasant little happening was that Miss Joan Mitchcner, winner of tho Palmer Navy League prize for last year, was specially introduced, and' tho book ("The Endless Story") which she had chosen as her prizo, was autographed by the author. Later all adjourned to the Concert Chamber for tho lecture- by Captain Dorling. Mr. R. Darroch (secretary of tho Navy League) arranged this very pleasant party.
