PIECEWORK AND SUSTENANCE

•'.' A well-attended meeting of; protest against piecework and sustenance cuts was held last, evening in St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown,'under the auspices of tho United Front Council of Action, states a report. supplied by Mr, T. Kelly, secretary of that body. Mr, L. Eosswas in the-chair. :'.

'''This meeting of employed and un-r employed is of the opinion that the introduction of piecework is a further attempt to worsen and exploit the relief workers? conditions. Further, the .reducing of rations and the intention of the Unemploymentßoard to place large numbers "of men on the\'dole' shows clearly that while various sections are being attacked from different angles, tho policy of the board as a whole is one of a general onslaught upon the relief workers' and unemployeds' conditions. We therefore pledge'ourselves to support the United Front Council of Action with every method at our dispo.sal, and demand: (1) Abolition of piecework; (2) no age discrimination; (3) payment of sustenance according to : the Ant of 19.10."
