UNION OF UNEMPLOYED
"DOOMED TO FAILURE"
. A meeting of the delegates' council of the Wellington Union of Unemployed was held at the Trades Hall last Monday, and the following, resolution was passed:— "That we, tho delegates 1 council of the Unemployed Union, whilst desirous of unity and joint action that will help tho lot of tho workers both employed and unemployed; deplore the tactics of the Wellington,Eeliof Workers' Union, and cannot take part further in the attempt to foment a national strike of relief workers. "Whilst realising that a strike is a valuable weapon for well-organised industriesdn key, positions, we are:of the opinion that .. strike : action . by relief workers is doomed to failure, and is advantageous only to our opponents. "We, therefore, refuse, to have any further . dealings;..with the so-called United Front, as we consider its attempt to cause a strike and .to alter its constitution: and secretariat, without consent of the bodies affiliated, to be a breach of the agreement that brought us together and likely to destroy possible co-operation." .. ■ ; ■
