BRIDGE ON FIRE
MAIL TRAIN HELD UP

MASTERTON, December's.
A small railway bridge on the south side of Pigeon Bush was found to be on fire this afternoon, and the down mail train was held up, it being necessary to transfer the passengers to the other side. The beams on one side and the sleepers were burnt through. Temporary repniri were made, and the evening train' toLMa*terton was able to cross. '
