AFTERNOON RECEPTION

ORCHESTRA AUXILIARY

One of the very pleasant duties \>f the Women's Auxiliary Committee of the Wellington' Symphony Orchestra is to welcome and entertain visiting musicians. Yesterday afternoon thoir guests were Mr. ,and Mrs. Andersen Tyrer, both musicians of note, who arc spending a short time in Wellington. Members of the.-executive and of the committee were present with their friends, all being met by Lady Buckleton, a vice-president. Lady Buckleton wore a coat of medoc red with large collar and revers of brown fur and a small fitting hat to tone. Mrs. Andersen Tyrer was in a fur-trimmed ensemble' of- sand beige, and wore a hat of the same shade with brim of felt and crown of lace straw. In answer to a few words of welcome from Lady Buckleton, Mr. Tyrer thanked their hostesses and said he had been very agreeably surprised at the high standard of the orchestra, with whom he had been practising, prior to their concert tomorrow evening, at which ho will be the pianist. The rooms were decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies. Tea was served, and afterwards a brief business meeting was held by the committee, who discussed the necessity for stimulating interest in tho orchestra.
