NEW SOCIETY FORMED
SUBURBAN HORTICULTURE
At a meeting of residents of Vogeltown and Mornington held in the Vogeltown Hall recently, it was Unanimously decided to form a horticultural society for the district. The chairman, Mr. W. S. Mason, stressed the importance of the many advantages of intensive cultivation of small gardens / and the good that would accrue therefrom, reminding those present that gardening was the most ancient of sciences. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. E. A. Wright, M.P.; president, Mr.- W. S. Mason, N.D.H. (N.Z.); vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Rice, L. Sievers, W. Jackson, and Miss Howden, and Messrs. A. G. Cathie, W. Jackson, C. H. Backhouse, T. 'Webster, J. Savage, F. C. Dunning, R. Davison, E. L. Myers, A. France, W. Healey, and Russell; committee, Mesdames W. Rice, L. Sievers, G. F. Barron, A. Topp, A. Mclvor, Mullins, and<-Gully,. and Messrs. Rice, Mclvor, Barron, Mullins, Gully, Moug, and Ogg; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. Rnmstlen; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. F. Barron; hon. auditor, Mr. A. C. Vincent.
