MEETING ON BASIN RESERVE

The first of a series or evening sports meetings controlled by affiliated clubs was held on the Basin Reserve yesterday. These meetings are to be held every Monday evening until December 18, the proceeds of the first three being devoted towards furthering the candidature of the National Confidence Carnival "Princess (Miss Gretta Stark). The unpleasant conditions which prevailed last evening marred to some extent the, success of the meeting, several of the entries being small. . . . Miss Gretta Stark was introduced to the gathering by Mr. A. C. Kitto, who asked those present to support her as heartily as possible. Mr. T. W. Leslie acted as starter. The letters used in tHe results to indicate the different clubs are as follows:— W, Wellington; A, Athletic; K. Kiwi; O Olympic; 08, Combined Old Boys; 1, Petone; Pc, Poneke Cycling Club. Results: — 100 Tards Ladies' Handicap.—Miss C.. GII--mour (A), 6yds, 1; Miss E. Sharp (W), 2%yds, 2; Miss N. Flan (A). 7yds, 3. ■ 100 Yards Open.—D. K. Thorn (A), 1; R. Hill (A), 2; B. P. Potton (A). 3. 880 Yards Open.—J. O'Brien (A), 1; S. Dick (OB), 2; A. F. Dumbell and R. Leeks (dead heat), 3. 100 Yards Junior Handicap.—H. Compton (X) scr, and R. Coombs (A), 3yds (dead heat), 1.
