COW OF 1500 B.C
Much interest has been aroused among Lincolnshire archaeologists by the discovery of the skeleton of & cow which is believed to have been buried 3500 years ago. It was found at Giant's Hill, Skendleby, Lincolnshire, by Professor C. W. Phillips, of Selwyn College, Cambridge, who has been excavating with the holp of undergraduates. The skeleton was found alongside a long barrow, which is the older of two principal kinds of barrbw, or burial place. There was practically no sign of the barrow to an unpractised eye, for the ploughing of a field had pulled down masses on the top soil and had almost levelled the mound. The whole of that district of Lincolnshire is noted for prehistoric remains. Various excavators have from time to time found socalled neolithic and paleolithic flint implements, as well as "iron age" relics.
