SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMME
I (Special to the "Evening Post.") j '/ " NELSON, October 2S. The Jirst air page: held, by the Nelson Aero Club at the iStoke Aerodromo today was most successful? Nearly '5000 spectators watched a spectacular display, the interesting ' programme' going off smoothly without mishap under perfect conditions. Ten aero planes representing the 'Wellington, Auckland,: Western Federated, West Coast, Canterbury, Wairarapa, and Marlborough Club's took part. The -programme opened with formation flying over the city. One of the highlights of the afternoon .was Capfain Bolt's crazy flying. The Wellington Club, which was mainly responsible for. the organisation of the pageant, was rep csented 1-y three machines piloted by Messrs. Bolt, Stedman, and Nesbitt. Mr.'Spence, president of-the New Zealand. Aero Club, was a visitor. In opening the, pageant, the Mayor, Mr. W. J.. Moffatt, congratulated the Nelson Club on ■ its enterprise, and thanked the clubs ; for sending aeroplanes, and the pilots for their attendance. The display should stimulate interest in aviation locally and assist the .young Nelson 'Club. ' . "The visiting.-..airmen,-were plnased with.the local ground, .which.is being improved and extended- in .viewof Sir Charles Kingsford Smith's proposed visit early next year.
