ATHLETIC TOUR

VISIT BY AUSTRALIANS

Advice received by mail today by Mr. L. A. Tracy, secretary. of; tho. New Zealand. Amateur Athletic Association, from '.Mr. E, S. .Marks;: the" association's Australian . representative, states that E. W. Barwick (Tasmania, distance runner), J. C. Horsfall (Victoria, sprinter), and J. P. Metcalfo (Sydney, a noted jumper) have accepted tho invitation to tour Now Zealand in February next. These three athletes should form an attractive combination.

In his letter to Mr. Tracy, Mr. Marks makes tho following comment:—"Metcalfe is still jumping welL Last week (the week prior to October 25) ho did 6ft 4}in in competition. Barwick created new records recently for two and four miles at Hobart. Without doubt these- three men would make a fine team and would be ablo to compete in sprints, and half-mile to • tenmilo events, high jump, long jump, and hop, step, and jump. Barwiek is a public school teacher, and Metcalfe and Horsfall are University students.'-'
