COMPENSATION CLAIM FAILS
Judgment was given in the' Arbitration Court today iv a case in which Eliza Ives, of Mitchelltowu,. Wellington, widow, claimed compensation from the New Zealand Shipping Co., Ltd. The plaintiff was a sister of Edward George, a waterside worker, who was struck by a dump of wool while working for the company, -causing, it was alleged, the rupture of an aneurism of the aorta, resulting in death ten days after the accident. The plaintiff was partially dependent on her brother for support, and claimed £416 compensation, £25 9s funeral and medical expenses, and costs. Mr. Justice Frazer, in delivering judgment, said the case depended entirely on medical evidence, which differed somewhat as to the actual causo of death. After reviewing the evidence, his Honour said it had Hot been proved that death was in any way due to the accident, and gave judgment for the defendant company, with costs. _ Mr. Ongley appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Georgensen. for the defendant company. ...
