.VANCOUVER, October 28. Damages amounting to 56,000 dollars have been awarded to Mr. Edward Howlott, father of Armand . Howlett, a. student, against the University of Alberta, in the Supreme CouTt at Edmonton. , The boy became permanently insane as a result of "hazing" ("ragging") by students, in the course of which ho was divested of his clothing and dragged naked through the University corridors.

The University of Alberta, organised in 1907, had in 1932 1938 students.
