BAILLIE STEWART AFFAIR
MENTION OF "MARIE LOUISE"
LONDON, October, 27. A member of the House of Commons, Mr. J. MeGovern (Lab.), declares he has fresh information concerning the Baillio Stewart affair, including "Marie Louise's"address, this information indicating that the charges resulted from a frame-up. Ho intends to ask questions in. Parliament in November.
In April, Lieutenant Baillie Stewart,' aged 24, was cashiered and sentenced to five years' penal servitude after being found guilty by a court-martial of an offence against the Official Secrets Act. The name o£ Marie Louise, a mysterious I German girl, wns heard frequently during tho trial, it being alleged that through her Stewart betrayed his country. Baillio in his d'efenee confessed merely to a, Jove affair with Marie Louise who/ however, did not come forward to give evidence, nor could she bo found at -(he time of the courtmartial.
