MANY CLOSE FINISHES
The sports day of St. Patrick's College, Silverstream,- yesterday, was a complete success. The weather was fine, and there was a large attendance of visitors in the afternoon, although not as large as there would have been had the sports not beeu postponed the previous day. Archbishop Kechvood was among those present. There were large fields for all the events, and there were many close, finishes. The starter (Mr. T. W. Leslie) remarked on the steadiness of the lads on the mark. Only two records were broken. Iv the intermediate high jump ■Elvers cleared oft o%in, and in the intermediate 880 yds Hampton established a record- by covering the distance in 2min 17 ]-osec. The senior sprint champion is Tullocb (0 -points).: followed by Wilson (4 points) and Hannah (4 points). The intermediate sprint champion is Hnmptou (S points), and then come Fngan (7 points) and Onglny (3 points). The .junior sprint champion is GrenfeU (5 points), followed by Garland (3 points). In the senior dis- j tance championship, the most successful | Was Hallagan -(9 points), and then come McDonnell (4 points), Rodgers (4 points), and'Abbott (1 point).
