PRIESTLEY'S NEW NOVEL

The hero of J. B. Priestley's new novel, "Wonder Hero," was really no hero at all. He was on the night shift, and if he had not gone to sleep at his post there would have been no fire at all. But there was' a fire, and he got the credit for putting it out before it reached the explosive tanks, whereas in reality someone else did the Quelling of the flames. He, however, with the help of an enterprising newspaper, woko up in company with Nelson and Wellington as a popular hero. Mr. Priestley's story is really an attack on the "Stunt Press," and he pictures London fiddling while industrial England burns. Those who expect another "Good Companions" or "Angel Pavement" in "Wonder Hero?' wjll bo disappointed, but there is some excellent writing in "Wonder Hero," a good taler and an abundance of satire.
