(Original.) After a long walk through 'tlic woods I founrl mj rself in a dear little nook where the ground was all covered tvith moss. I peeped through the tall.ferns, and saw a;.dear little thatched cottage 3iestling> among the hills. All kinds of spring flowers were dotted amongst the green grass. I tip-toed quickly up to the little gate, and there was the name, "Spring Cottage," written on ono of the palings. 1 could hear sounds of merry laughter coming from one of tho rooms, so . J climbed, on. the window ledge, and there I saw'a happy throng of'fairies and elves /rollicking and playing about, while .the Spring Queen looked on with smiling lips and sparkling eyes. A little elf saw me, and. invited me 1o play with them. They all called out, "Please will you tell us your name?" and I replied, ''Eippling Laughter." • One little elf said, "But however did you find us?" "Well," I said, "I have been looking for you for ever so long. You see, 1 have to go-from-place to place making everyone happy, and I was just returning home 'when I happened to see this snug tittle cottage." "We had such an exciting time, but it ended all too soon. The Queen stood ■up. ■ . "Elves," sho said, "I think it is lime you are off to your painting. So run off now and get your brushes, and perhaps our little visitor would like to go and watch you at your work." "Oh, yes, please!" I said. So we all went out into tho beautiful Spring garden where tho sir was full of beautiful scents of daphne, jonquils, violets, and daffodils. It was interesting to watch the elves at work. Some were painting the leaves on the trees, and others were painting the flowers. The sun was now setting behind the hills, so I had to thank everyone for the lovely timo I had spent with them. They all called out, "Good-bye" to me, and said, "Come again soon." Then 1 hurried off through the woods to my Jiome.' r'zirxrßtppLixCr'LAUcniEE'! (ioy. Karori.
