SPECTACULAR TEST
CAR CRASHED THROUGH WALL
A thrill sponsored by the exhibition authorities at the Century of Progress Exposition at Chicago was tho'crashing of a stock model car of American make through the wall of a house. Thousands looked on while a racing driver sped at the obstacle at fifty miles an hoar, punched, a holo, and came to rest several hundred 'feet on the other side. Broken bits of walls and studding flew high into the air, but the car showed little sign of the encounter. The safety glass windscreen was cracked, but not shattered, and the headlamps wore bent back on their pedestals; otherwise there were only some scratches to show on the glossy finish; of-'the body. The greater part of the broken wall had been tossed out. of the way of doing'harin. The demonstration was considered a testimony to a low centre of gravity, ' air streamed linesj safety glass, andgeneral ruggedness of the build of. tho ear of today. The "stunt" was filmed and is'going the rounds of the .picture theatres in America. ■*'
