MINISTER'S REPLY
No promise of further delay in. the passage of the Reserve Bank of Now Zealand Bill was made by the lU. Hon. J. G. Coatcs, Minister of Finance, in a telegram which he dispatched last night to Mr. A. S. Burgess, president of (lie Associated Chambers of Commerce, now in conference'at AVanganui. Tho conference had telegraphed a resolution favouring a further deluy in
the passing of tho Bill, which was described as| a departure from established banking practice. "The representations are duly noted," states the Minister's telegram, "but it should be realised that the measure lias already been beforo the country and Parliament for an adequate time, that its cnactarnent in no way prejudices further inquiry into monetary and curceney "matters, and that so far as being a depavtaire from banking practice, this Bill will bring the Dominion into line with the best practices and principles agreed lbpon by all|competent authorities. Itf suggestions are offered for specific '•amendments calculated, to improve, tin n Bill, they will havn every Kunsideijiitioii."
