£1400 DAMAGES
MAN INJURED BY MOTOR-CAR
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DTJNEDIN, October 26. The hearing was continued in tho Supremo Court today of the case in which Charles Adolph Edvert Johnson, labourer, Dunedin, claimed £2107 10s from John Bercsford Gillies, salesman, Dunedin, as damages for injury, received through being knocked flown by v motor-car in Priuces Street South on tlio night of June 20 last year. The plaintiff, who lost a leg as the result of his injury, alleged negligence against the defendant. Evidence was- heard at length, and the jury awarclcd tho plaintiff damages amounting to £1407 10s. Mr. Hanlon, for the defendant, gave notice to move- for a new trial on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence.
