BRITISH CORRESPONDENT
SUSPICION OF ESPIONAGE
LONDON, October 26. The "Daily Telegraph's" Berlin com respondent says that the British Ambassador (Sir Eric Phipps) has handed a British Note to the German Govern* ment asking for an explanation for tha arrest of Mr. Noel Panter, .the "Telegraph's" correspondent in Munich, who was taken into custody by the political police. This action is due to the fact thafi tho British Consul' General in Munich; was refused permission to see Mr. Panter, who also was not allowed to consult a lawyer. Tho charge is "suspicion of espionage," the evidence con* sisting of. Mr.* Panter's telegram de« scribing a demonstration at Kelhcim on Saturday. The correspondent.>adds: "It is obvious that the Nazis are following their usual tactics in secluding Mr. Panjer from any contact with tho outside world during his examination, hoping to trap, him into an incriminating admission." -
