OBITUARY
NOTED ARCTIC EXPLORER
WASHINGTON, Octobor 25. Etvolyri Briggs Baldwin, the meteorologist and noted Arctic explorer, was killed tonight when he was struck by an automobile while crossing the street. He was 71 years of age.
The. lato Mr. E. B. Baldwin, who was a badhelor, had a varied, adventurous life. In 1885 he was a pedestrian and cyclist in Europe, after which he became a school superintendent in Kansas, lai 1892 he was appointed to tho United States Weather Bureau, and a year latfer he had his first taste of Arctic exploration with tho Peary North Greenland expedition. In 1899. he discovered and esplorod Graham Bell Land, arid he organised and took part in various expeditions, largo and small, until well into the present century.
