SMALL JURIES

AMENDING LEGISLATION A proposal to empower a jury composed of four members to deal with civil cases where the amount involved is below £500, and one of twelve whero it exceeds that figure, is contained in a Bill promoted by Mr. F. W. Sehramin (Labour, Auckland East). The measure provides also for special juries drawn from the appropriate trade or occupation in actions for personal injuries founded upon a breach of contract. Notico of the introduction of the measure was given by Mr. Schramm in the House of 'Representatives this morning.
