OPENING OF SEASON
The Wellington Cricket Association's competitions for the 1933-34 season are'to bo commenced tomorrow afternoon. In the .. senior grade there will be two matches at tho Basin Reserve, last year's champion team (Wellington) meeting Midland on No. 1 wicket, and University and Institute playing on No. 2 wicket. Wellington will be Holding a strong side, with the batting order somewhat as follows: — Whyte, Foley, Ell, Boilings, Morgan, Jlouteath, Airey, A. Wiren, Cousins, Bluudell, and Symes. Midland, too, will be well represented, the side including most of lust year's players, with Harrison (ex-University) as one of tho new additions. Kilbirnic and Old Boys, who finished second mid.'third respectively in lust season's championship, will meet at Kllbirnie Park, where a collection is to be taken on behulf of the local club's funds. Both teams have been strengthened since last; season —Old Boys by the transfer of C. Warcham and Kilbirnie by tho return.of S. Ward, and the addition of A. Doueghuc and W. Aitkeu, and tlie game should provide some interesting cricket. Petone and llutt will meet on the Petone Recreation Ground. In tho event of unfavourable weather, information as to postponements, etc., will bd posted on the notlco board in tho window of the ".Evening Post" front office.
