Tho notary entered the bos to confirm the story and fainted and was carried from the Court. Dr. Barral testified to making a postmortem examination on the body of a consumptive girl, Magali Herbin. who died whilo in the care of the Schmidt sisters. The examination disclosed the enormous quantity of 2.7 grammes of zinc. Fifty centigrammes would be fatal. He considered that she was poisoned. ■ : Catherine Schmidt protested her innocence, declaring that Sarret often gave champagne to Magali, who complained of its taste. , The Court adjourned, after two wit* nesses nearly came to blows, iieccssi* tating the intervention of three polic*» men. .
