DIOCESAN COUNCIL MEETS

COMMITTEES SET UP

The Wellington Diocesau Council of the Mothers' Union met on Wednesday, much important business being done. A largo gift of suitable literature, also books for the lending library, was received from the Control Council in London. Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. JX Anderson, and Mrs. Taylor were elected a sub-commit: tee to tabulate and distribute these. Another important sub-committee was set up to consider and report to next council, on a remit from England regarding surplus funds, the Home council using such to' support special Mothers' Union missionaries and caravans in jut-districts. This same committee was appointed to arrange for the forthcoming picnic of all branches in the diocese. It consists of the following: Mrs. Sprott, Mrs. Wallis, Mrs. -Bullock, Mrs. Christy, Mrs. Robertshawe, fre. Anderson, and Mrs. Dickinson (hon. secretary). Mrs. Sprott gave a summary of the work done by the Dominion Mothers' Union Council, which recently met in Wellington. Mrs.' White, a delegate of the League of Mothers, was present at that council. Mrs. Wallis explained some details in connection with the remits from the Central Council in London, as her sister, Mrs. Barclay, is on that council, and is also ' correspondence associate for th«r Wellington Council. Mrs. WalYw was appointed correspondent for. the Mothers' Union in Australia. The "Call to Renewal," it,was stated, is being carefully considered, and each dioceso will fall into line. It culminates next Lenten season. All tho members welcomed, most heartily the country delegates who were present. V Much regret was expressed at the resignation of Mrs. Pearson, who is leaving Wellington. She will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Dickinson was unanimously elected in her place as hon. diocesan secretary.
