.FAIR TO FINE WEATHER

An anticyclones still extends from eastern Australia ou to New Zealand and this continues to be tho. controlling factor in the Dominion's meteorological outlook. A cyclone, however, has been operating during the last two or three days over the ocean far to the east. It was still in-, evidence this morning, and this is the factor whicli has caused a continuance of winds from some southerly quarter. Today's forecast indicates that moderate to strong southerly winds are likely to persist, the weather for .the most part remaining fair to fine. Some scattered showers, however, are probable, and will be conflned mainly to the eastern and southern coastlines. Temperatures will be cool. ; -

During the last, twenty-four hours fine and pleasant weather has continued to prevail over the greater part of the Dominion. Winds, which have been light to moderate generally, have been southerly to the north of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, and variable elsewhere. Sinco early this morning, however, southerlies have become general again and have freshened along the East Coast as far north as Cook Strait and in the northernmost districts. In these aroas some isolated showers,, have fallen, and about Foveaux Strait conditions are continuing showery.

Auckland had fine and hazy weather yestorday, with a south-westerly breeze.

Wellington experienced another perfect spring day with a light northerly wind and 10.3 hours of bright sunshine. After a calm night, a southerly sprang up at 7 a.m. today and a heavy shower of nine points fell during the next half-hour. At Kelburn tho rainfall totalled nine points, but practically no rain fell in Lower Hutt.

Christchurch had a pleasant sunny day with a light Wind from the northeast. Early this morning tho wind changed to the southwest and one point of rain fell.

Fair to cloudy weather prevailed in Dunedin yesterday. The wind was a light south-westerly which brought a little rain during the night.
