ARMISTICE DAY SERVICE

A proposal to hold the 11 a.m. service on Armistice Day at the War Memorial instead;of in the' Town Hall was considered by. the executive ;of the Wellington Beturiied Soldiers' Association last, night.

After the matter had been discussed, a motion was carried indicating that the.majority of the executive preferred'that the service should be held in the-Town Hall.

Colonel B.;H. "Bowlands said that he had-long/been of the opinion, that-tho service should be; held at the War Memorial.' "Holding.it in the Town Hall," heisaid, "makes it appear that weare hiding our light under a bushel. It may, be a handicap to the old people to hold the service at the 'War Memorial, but-.a; greater number of young people would attend it."

The Bey. W.Bramwell Scott said that the memorial took the place of; the Cenotaph ahd 'Whitehall. in , London, •and !it was fitting that: the service should.bo held there.

: It was'pointed out by two or three speakers that the. weather might not be suitable for holding the service at the memorial, and also that the matter of .';■ seating,accommodation 'might present 'some difficulty.
