LODGE MEETINGS

The fortnightly . meeting, of Excelsior Lodge, No.. ,11, .U.A.0.D., was held last week, P.A. Bro. Willis presiding. The bards reported .on sick members and sick pay, amounting to £51 14s and' accounts, were passed for payment. Two members joined by clearance. Bra. Cumming ..reported on the activities of the dispensai-y boaid, and Bio. Willis repbrted on a meeting of the combined Druids' picnic committee. Bro. Mullint. made a report on the activities of the Royal Arch Chapter. A vote of thanks was accorded visitors from Coronation and Pacific Lodges. After business had been concluded an ]£srekior Lodge team played a team from Coronation Lodge in the indoor bowlsi tournament,;: Card games were also indulged in. ; The fortnightly meeting of Pacific Lodge, ILA.OiD., was held recently, D.P. Bro. Bray presiding over a good attendance. Bro. Harris, P.G.P., Canterbury, was; received with the honour* of the Order. The bards' report on sick brethren1 was received, and sick pay was passed accordingly. Bro. Abel reported on' the'..,cribbage toui nament held at Pride of Brooklyn Lodge for the Fisher Cup. The games resulted in Pacific Lodge retaining the trophy. Bro. Barley, when reporting on a visit to Coronation Lodge, complimented Bro. Matthews on his address on: finger prints. Two candidates were initiated. When the lodge adjourned Bro, Bold gave an interesting talk on his trip to England and Wales, special reference being made to the Druids Cromlegh, Clyrinog,-Wales. The fortnightly -I meeting of Melrose Lodge, No. 66,: iTIA.O.D., was. held last week, A.D. Bro. Josephs presiding. There was a large attendance, both Coronation Lodge and the Royal Arch Chapter, being officially represented. The former played Melrose Lodge- games of euchre for the Hawke Cup, the'holders (Melrose) being successful by 10 games to 5. A vote of; thanks was passed-tol the visitors, Bro. Bray suitably, responding on behalf of the Royal Arch Chapter, Bio. Cooper .for Coronation Xodge,. Bi-o. Taylor Ifor Pacific Lodge, and Bro. Gauntlet for' Excelsior Lodge. ' ■■■' ', J' The annual ball of the Wellington District, Grand United Order of Oddfellows, was held in the Pharmacy Hall, which was handsomely dectrated. The "grand march" was led off by'the Deputy Grand Master Bro. Hey and escort,, followed by District Deputy Grand Master Bro. G. F. Rudkin, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., and his suite, Grand Lodge and District officers, G.U.0.0.F., 'and visitors from kindred societies. A notable feature of the evening was a demonstration by Mr. and Mrs. Southern Colledge. There were several novelties. sueh1 as "Monte' Carlo" and "Lucky Spot" dances, for which .prizes werei.given. A streamer dance brought the, evening to a close. .The M.Cs were Bros. A. Taylor and R. , Couper. Bros. v McQueen and Thompson were, the hosts Sis.'Hooper hostess.' . . ,' '..'.'.'

Wellington District Council, G;U.0.0.F., held' its quarterly, delegates' meeting recently, presided-over by Bro. McQueen, District Master. Other officers present were Bro. J. A. Brown, Deputy District Master; Sis.. Hooper, District Secretary; Bros. Couper and Thompson, District Trustees. Delegates were Sis. Ryde, Bros. Savory, Green, and Tingay, Harnor, sen., Davidson (District Inspector), and Sis. Lawler. The District Master reported upon his visit to Miramar branch, and also the District Secretai'y's visit to Arakino branch,, both reports being received. The District Inspector reported favourably on the .books, of Lower Hutt, Loyal Central, ai^d. Petpne branches., It. was resolved that ' tlic'. secretaries '.'of these branches be congratulated' upon the interest shown in their work. • \

Bro. Pearson presided over the recent meeting of Miramar Lodge, No. 2. G.U.0.0.F., there being a full ■ attendance of officers present. Bro. McQueen, District Master, paid a visit for ,the purpose of installing the newly-elected1 Financial Secretary, Bro. Dunn. Bro. Brown is to receive an engraved .P.U.Gvs medallion for past services. Nominations were called for the ensuing term, the meeting then going into harmony., • ■. < Loyal Central Branch, G.U.O.OJB\, at its usual fortnightly meeting • had a full attendance of officers, Bro. Davidson, Noble Grand, presiding. Several members were reported sick, and sick pay was passed accordingly. Reports of the Medical Institute delegate and "the ball'com-, mittee delegate were received. Nominations were called for the ensuinu; term.

Loyal Britannia Lodge, Manchester TTnity Oddfellows, met recently, Bro.' L. Withy, N.G., presidinpr. There was a spleudid attendance. Sick visitors made their reports and sick pay to members passed.
