DANGEROUS APPLIANCES
A recommendation mado by the Electric Supply Authority Engineers' Association that suitable means bo provided for the approval of electrial appliances waa endorsed by the Power Boards' Conference today. Mr. N. G. McLeod, president o£ the association, said that any person could go into a shop and buy electrical apparatus which might or might not be suitable for the particular purpose in view. A grave danger was thus created, and the engineers were anxious that provision should bo- made for all apparatus to be approved before it was sold. Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., chairman of the conference, said that a Bill was being prepared to deal with the position, and it was hoped to have it passed during the present session of Parliament. The conference also adopted two further remits from the Engineers' Association, one urging that the New Zealand Fire Underwriters' Association should contributo towards the cost of the Wiremen's Itegis'tration Board, and the other advocating a deputation to the Government with the object of stressing the necessity of arranging a
thorough investigation into the problem of dairy and milk hygiene. '
