ANOTHER RAID

IN HAINING STREET,

THREE CHINESE ARRESTED

Following a raid by the police- this morning on premises at No. 4 Haining Street, three Chinese will appear at the Magistrate's Court tomorrow charged with offences under tho Dangerous Drugs Act. This was the second Haining Street raid in a little over a week, the previous one being on Tuesday afternoon of last week, and again tho building raided was found to bo heavily barricaded. Senior-Sergeant D. Scott, who was in charge of the raid, told a "Post" reporter that each opiumsmoking den visited seems to be fortified more strongly than the last. Senior-Sergeant Scott, who had with him. Constables Paget, Gleeson, and Wilson, arrived at the building about 10 a.m., and entered with little difficulty, but when inside they came to a door which appeared to be practically impregnable. The police, however, hearing persons escaping through, a window, turned their attention to the roof, with the result that the escapees were caught and tho police weie ablo to go through tho window to a room which boro all the appearances of an opiumsmoking den. A quantity of prepared opium and a big collection of paraphernalia were seized, and will be used as exhibits in court.
