A BOOM UNWANTED
Mr. Owen Baker, president of the Real Estate Institute, Christchurch, in a recent address to members on the property situation, remarked;—" Perhaps it will not be out of place just in passing to sound a note of warning. We have lived through many ups and downs; and it is to be hoped that there will be no immediate boom conditions, because experience in the past has proved conclusively that this must react to the detriment of the community, and hence to the real estate business as a whole, so that members will be well advised, as business conditions get back to normal, :to'avoid, any suggestion of boom conditions, or to attempt to promote a boom atmosphere.
"We must take-a long view,, and should appreciate that the welfare of the real estate business is,wrapped up-with the welfare of the community, and hence illadvised methods.' of promoting business are likely to have ' a boomerang' effect in the long run." ■ '
