CIVIC WELCOME

FOR MR. DE VALERA

TURNED DOWN BY LIMERICK

LONDON, August 25,

There was an angry scene at a Limerick Corporation meeting over a proposal that a civic welcome should be extended to Mr. do Valera when he visits the city on August 27. One councillor protested that Mr. de Valera "had the impudence to come to Limerick at a time when he is applying the Coercion Act to a section of the people."

On the Lord Mayor's suggestion, the proposal was withdrawn.
