MAJESTIC THEATRE.
A lot of wonderful underwater photography contributes to the undoubted success of "Below the Sea" at the Majestic Theatre. Tho plot is the lure of sunken treasure, but In a 193 d setting. A German U-boat, carrying three million dollars' worth of gold bullion, is sunk during the Great War. Her rascally commander (the villain of the piece), ami another man are the only two survivors, and the knowledge of the- whereabouts of the gold is narrowed down lo one, the commander, when lie pushes Ills conirnde over a dirt as a rescue ship heaves In sight. Peace-time comes and- the villain succeeds in obtaining an old cargo steamer in which to go In search of the treasure. But It founders in a hurricane. Once again there aie only two survivors,'the villain and tho hero, "the best deep-sea diver in the world. How they sail again in search of the treasure this time on the vessel of a scientific expedition, is the main part of the story. A climax is reached when the heroine is trapped in a div-ing-bell. To save her the rugged hero descends into the depths and frees the bell from the clutches of an octopus. He reaches the surface in time to sec justice meted out to the commander just, as the gbld is within Ills grasp. It Is a picture of more than usual merit.. There are entertaining supports.
