CARILLON RECITALS
FOUR ANNIVERSARIES
Four important anniversaries in the history of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force fall within the nest, few days, and will be specially commemorated by recitals on the War Memorial Carillon, Buckle Street. The first of these anniversaries, the Battle of Hill GO, wliich was fought on Gallipoli on August ,27, 1&1-3, eventuates tomorrow, when, commencing at 3.30 p.m., the carillonist. Miss Gladys Watkins, will play the following programme:—(l) Westminster Chimes. (2) Hymn, "Come Unto Me." (3) "Afton Water." (4) "Passing By" (Purcell). (5) ' '"Minuet in G" (Beethoveni). (6) "Hebrew Melody." (7) "The Dollfe. Cradle Song" (Duyssens).. (8) "When Other Lips" (Balfe). (9) "Silver Threads Among the Gold." (10) The Bell "Giallipoli" (sounded eight times). (11) Funeral March (Chopin). (12) Hymn, "Hark, the Sound of Holy Voices." (13) National Anthem. On Monday,. August, 29, two, important anniversaries will be commemorated—the capture of Samoa by; the New Zealand Force in 1914, and the'capture, of Bapaume by the New Zealand, Division in-France during the Great Ajclvanee of 1918. At 4 p.m.1 on-Monday Muss Watkins will play the following programme:—(l) Canterbury Cathedral Chimes. ;(2) New Zealand National Anthem. (3) "Requiem" (Homer). (4) "Somewhere a Voice is Calling" (Tate). (5) "My Love's an Arbutus" (Irish). (6) | "Allan Water." (7) Barcarolle from | "Tales, of Hoffmann" (Offenbach). (8) "Tola ma Felene" (Samoan song). (01 The Bell "Vailima": (sounded- eight time.s). (10) National Ainthorn. On Wednesday, August 30, a further recital will be given in commemoration of the-capture of."Bawenurt nnrl Freurirourt by the New Zealland Division in 1918.
