EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Mayor (Mr. E. }V. Wise) presided at the meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council last eveningThe Town' Clerk (Mr. C. L. Bishop) reported that the Public Trustee had advised he would agree to disburse the accumulated sinking funds in accordance with, (lie scheme lor conversion of the borough's loans as submitted to the Loans Hoard. This was very satisfactory, and it now appeared there were good prospects of the scheme being passed by the Local Bodies' Loans Board. The metalling of streets and footpaths was proceeding, stated Sir. Bishop's report, and a general improvement should be effected within the next few weeks. The traffic receipts in the omnibus department'were approximately £20 higher than in July last year, making the total for the four months approximately £123 higher than for the same four months last year. Trading expenditure was normal. There would be a new bus on the road within the next few weeks. The report of the parks and reserves committee recommended that Mr. K. Orehison be appointed a. forest ranger, and this was agreed to. . . , . Councillor M. Magill was appointed to attend a meeting of the Petone Memorial Technical College on September 20 to elect a manager of the college.
