GELIGNITE EXPLOSION

PICK STRIKES OLD CHARGE

THREE MEN INJURED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNKDIN, August 2-1. A gelignite explosion occurred this afternoon at Manuhcrikiu dam, near Oturehua, Central Otago, resulting in three men—Kenneth Cameron, John Scples, and John. Pauley, all of Dunedin—being admitted to the Maniototo Hospital. Cameron was very severely injured, Scoles is suffering from deep cuts about the head and face, and Pauley's injuries are of a, minor nature. It is understood that the men were working with picks over ground where ii charge of gelignite had previously been laid, and that the pick struck the explosive.
