"Evening Post," August 25." Business on the Stock Exchange in New Zealand continues, brisk, but there are signs of slight weakness in the gilt-edged market, and prices of bank shares, admittedly high for their return on the market prices, show a tendency to ease. Insurance companies' shares are still in good demand, but the choice of these investments was limited with one exception to shares in New Zealand companies. Shares in stock and station companies and in certain financial companies attracted favourable notice. Gas shares are holding their own. Coal mines are receiving more attention. Speculative interest in mining and dredging continues keen, especially for Waihis. More interest is being displayed too in shares in the miscellaneous section. Business in Government loans has been well spread, and sales have been registered at above par in every instance, the 3% per cents, and 4 per cents.
