STATE OF A STREET
The recommendation of the works committee that Avon Street, Island Bay, be not improved, was opposed by Councillor E. MeKeen, M.P., at last night's meeting of the City Council, on the ground of danger to school children. He was supported by Councillors R. Semple, M.P., and H. A. Huggins, the latter being of opinion that the improvements should be effected at once. There was an alternative road, quite safe for school children, said Councillor T. Forsytli. The clauso was referred back to the committee.
Messrs. Silverstono and Co. will sell fm-niture, a vadio set, ami a motor-car by niittion on the premise.". Hoa Brougham Street, at 1.30 p,.m. tomorrow.
