Since last nigfht a small- cyclone has crossed Qtago, :md barometric pi'essiivo has fallen everywhere, although it is ■stilt relatively Ligh in the far iiprth. Strong northerly winds have ruled, gale force being reaished at times in Cook and Foveaux Stiiiit/This morning there was a southerly change' in far southern districts. Fair weather prevailed yesterday over most of the North Island, and 'also along the Ea»t Coast of the South Island, but in.tho western and southern district» of the Sohth Island tho weather was '-unsettled, with rain in places. During ,the night thero were some heavy fall* in ~those areas. Moss recorded no leant* than '7.10 inches of rain', while Arthjn"s Pass had a fall of 5.55 inches and ojic of 2.28 inches By this morning the" rain.had extended-along tjhe.-East Coast as far north as Timari^, and rain »ivas also falling in places about Cook Strait.
Auckland's wciither yesterday was mainly fine and ipild, with a light and variable wind. , Cloud and mist increased towards 1 fie evening. In Wellington t|he weather was mild and dull,''and thci nOrth-westerly wind became strong arid squally during the afternoon.
